Nourishing The Stomach

How to nourish the stomach?

1. Eating warm food for breakfast is optimum for the stomach

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A nutritionally balanced breakfast must include fruits, vegetables, proteins and grains. People who skip breakfast often are more likely to suffer from various stomach diseases. In addition, eating warm food can protect and nourish the stomach.

2. Serve with a nutritious lunch

It is best to choose high-protein, low-fat, and high fibre foods for lunch, and balance to a reasonable portion of meat and vegetables. Less cold and frying food to avoid stimulating the gastric mucosa. It is recommended to use more soy sauce, vegetable oil, green vegetables, grains, etc. for meal preparation to strengthen the spleen and stomach. Garlic has the effect of disinfection and sterilization that can help eliminate inflammation. Furthermore, wolfberry, white fungus, red dates also have the nourishing effect that can be taken as snacks or into the food.

3. Eat less at dinner and drink a cup of warm water before dinner

Drink a cup of warm water 40 minutes before dinner as it can promote stomach digestion. Take dinner until you are 70-80% full. Do not watch TV while having a meal or think about things while eating, as will easily cause insufficient blood supply to the stomach, will then affect gastrointestinal digestion.

Note: Drinking milk or juice before going to bed is not good for the stomach. Many people think that drinking milk or juice before going to bed is good for the stomach. However experts say on the contrary, because milk or juice will secrete gastric acid and easily damage the gastric mucosa, especially for patients with reflux esophagitis. Even more so, in the fasting state at night, it is likely to damage the stomach and aggravate reflux symptoms. It is not a good habit to eat supper before going to bed, and it is easy to gain weight while causing excessive gastric acid secretion.

Question 1:
Is it good for the stomach if you like spicy food?

Many people worry too much when they have an upset stomach. In fact, the stomach is not so delicate. It has the ability to repair itself. A healthy stomach has a gastric mucosal barrier and has a self-protection effect. Spicy foods won't easily irritate healthy stomach as long as we don't eat it on an empty stomach.

Question 2:
"Walk a hundred steps" after a meal or "Not move" after a meal?

We often hear 2 different opinions about whether to exercise after a meal. One is "walk a hundred steps after a meal and live to 99 years old"; the other is "if you want to live to 99 years old, don't walk after a meal". Experts say the 2 views are appropriate for different groups of people. "The 100-step walk after a meal" is suitable for people who do not exercise much, especially those who sit at the desk for a long time. It is also suitable for people who are overweight or have excessive gastric acid secretion. Such people take a 20-minute walk after meals can help reduce gastric acid secretion and fat accumulation. "Do not walk after meals" mainly refers to people who do not exercise often and who are weak, especially those who suffer from gastroptosis. It is best for these people to rest for 30 minutes to an hour after meals before exercising. As far as the average person is concerned, even if you need to walk after a meal, it is better to take a break before walking.
